Well, we didn't actually stay in Cleveland, but just down the road a bit off I-77. When you have a rooftop cargo box it's almost impossible to stay in a downtown hotel since most use garages for parking and our SUV with a cargo box on top is too tall to fit most hotel garages. (We got extremely lucky in LA - they let us park in the smallish pull-in area off the street right in front of the hotel.)
On Mother's Day, Dolores opted to get outdoors for a change so we made a visit to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is just down the road a few miles. It's got a completely different feel from the other national parks we visited. The old Erie & Ohio Canal towpath goes through the park so there's an awful lot of biking along the trail. Also, whereas most parks seem to have a huge amount of the park set aside as wilderness, there are small communities dotted all through this park. Oh, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs through the park, offering a 7-hour roundtrip between Cleveland and Akron.
Today, Monday, May 15th, we went to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. It seemed fitting that we visit the "Rock Hall" for two big reasons: first, since we visited the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, along with the Johnny Cash Museum there, and had also toured both Sun Studios (one of the earliest & most important Rock-n-Roll record labels) and Elvis' Graceland in Memphis; and, second, because we spent much of our drive-time listening to SiriusXM's "Classic Vinyl" which is broadcast from a studio at the top of the Rock Hall. We spent the day checking all the really cool exhibits and especially watching all the old video of concerts and interviews with the music legends.
I'd never been to Cleveland before but I have to say I was impressed with the Cleveland I saw from my car on the drive into and out of the downtown area.
Next up??
That's all for now ..... Dan
